Sep. 6, 2007 According to the EMEC (E-Mail Experience Council), overall email marketing volume for this year is expected to peak in the second week of December. The EMEC analyzed the results of a survey it did in the fourth week of July. It also noted that 7 of the 8 biggest retail email volume days of last year occurred in the weeks just before Christmas of 2006. In a DMA (Direct Marketing Association) study conducted at the end of last year, "almost 21 percent of Internet marketers surveyed had experienced an increase in their "Cyber Monday Sales" when compared to the same post-Thanksgiving Monday two years before," said DMA executive v.p. and COO Ramesh Lakshmi-Ratan. He added that "many of those last-minute sales were the result of commercial e-mails sent about a week before." Overall, major Internet and online retailers boosted their email marketing campaigns an average of about 47 percent during last year's holiday season. Additionally, aout 28.6 percent of major Internet retailers promoted online gift cards in their emails during the 8 days ending December 25 of last year. Add to Source: eMarketer
